Ricardo Gallardo, Lead Mason/Carpenter

I started construction work at the age of 18 years old after high school. I started as a laborer doing landscaping and working myself up to a laborer for concrete work.

I’ve been doing concrete work for 20+ years and it’s been very hard work throughout the years.

I’ve become an expert at everything from laying out, excavation, form setting, concrete placement and foundations through the years.

In that time, I have not only been responsible for the outcome of the trades that rely on a solid foundation. I have managed men on what we call the front end.

This has required me to develop a solid work ethic and an intricate knowledge of all the coordination of logistics, scheduling of materials and personnel to keep things on schedule.

I think that after 20+ years doing the same thing, I got the chance to change my workstyle with Building Science.

Now I’m not just doing only concrete work, I’m able to be part of a solid crew that can build the whole house from the bottom up. I’m not only a part of the beginning, but one of the guys still responsible in the end.

I’m glad that I am a part of this company and to continue to be a part of it.
